TMEX reports the 1st Quarter of 2024 EWR Market statistics (02.01-31.03.2024)

1st Quarter of 2024 highlights on the agricultural commodity trades in Electronic Warehouse Receipts (EWR) Market in Turkish Mercantile Exchange (TMEX) are as follows:
- As of the beginning of 2024, the trading value reached to TRY 8 billion, with a trading volume of 1 million tons and 15 thousand transactions.
- The number of investors engaging in trading platform has reached 4.706.
- The total number of registered investors on the trading platform has reached 216 thousand.
- There are currently 190 actively licensed warehouses providing services in 266 branches, 45 cities, and 137 districts.
- The licensed warehouse capacity has achieved a record of 10,2 million tons.
In the1st Quarter of 2024, information regarding the leading products in terms of daily average traded volume is provided below for the main traded agricultural commodities:
- Corn: 10.243 tons
- Milling Wheat: 2.452 tons
- Durum Wheat: 2.197 tons
- Barley: 650 tons
- Cotton: 219 tons
- Rye: 86 tons
The seasonal trading value and volume for the traded products are provided comparatively with the same period in 2023:
- Corn’s trading value decreased by 16% to 4,2 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 26% to 655.523 tons.
- Milling Wheat’s trading value decreased by 62% to 1,5 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 79% to 156.932 tons.
- Durum Wheat’s trading value decreased by 9% to 1,4 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 33% to 140.611 tons.
- Barley’s trading value decreased by 20% to 305,9 million TRY; trading volume decreased by 41% to 41.572 tons.
- Cotton’s trading value increased by 88% to 242,8 million TRY; trading volume increased by 48% to 3.938 tons.
- Rye trading value increased by 268% , reaching 16,5 million Turkish Lira, while its trading volume experienced a 211% increase, escalating to 2.421 tons.
The changes in Agricultural Commodity Indices for the 1st Quarter of 2024, based on month-end closing values, are provided as follows:
- Wheat Index value increased by 3,77% to 4.308,93.
- Milling Wheat Index value increased by 3,73% to 4.409,88.
- Durum Wheat Index value increased by 3,27% to 4.571,27.
- Corn Index value increased by 12,50% to 3.810,82.
- Barley Index value increased by 7,38% to 4.051,47.
- Grain Index value increased by 4,99% to 4.112,16.
