TMEX reports the 1st Quarter of 2023 EWR Market statistics (02.01-31.03.2023)

1st Quarter of 2023 highlights on the agricultural commodity trades in Electronic Warehouse Receipts (EWR) Market in Turkish Mercantile Exchange (TMEX) are as follows:
- As of the beginning of 2023, the trading value reached to TRY 11,9 billion, with a trading volume of 2 million tons and 41.000 transactions.
- The number of investors engaging in trading platform has exceeded 10,000.
- The total number of registered investors on the trading platform has exceeded 164,000.
- There are currently 168 actively licensed warehouses providing services in 236 branches, 41 cities, and 126 districts.
- The licensed warehouse capacity has achieved a record of 8.9 million tons.
In the 1st Quarter of 2023, information regarding the leading products in terms of daily average traded volume is provided below for the main traded agricultural commodities:
- Milling Wheat: 11,380 tons
- Durum Wheat: 3,211 tons
- Corn: 13,621 tons
- Paddy: 1,533 tons
- Barley: 1,083 tons
- Sunflower Seed: 207 tons
The seasonal trading volume for the traded products are provided comparatively with the same period in 2022:
- Milling Wheat’s trading volume increased by 11% to 739,722 tons.
- Durum Wheat’s trading volume decreased by 10% to 208,708 tons
- Corn’s trading volume increased by 42% to 885,366 tons.
- Paddy’s trading volume increased by 1200% to 44,455 tons.
- Barley’s trading volume decreased by 59% to 70,392 tons.
- Sunflower Seed’s trading volume decreased by 60% to 12,413 tons
The changes in Agricultural Commodity Indices for the 1st Quarter of 2023, based on month-end closing values, are provided as follows:
- Wheat Index value decreased by 4.97% to 3,050.27.
- Bread Wheat Index value decreased by 6.75% to 2,918.05.
- Durum Wheat Index value increased by 1.56% to 3,524.35.
- Corn Index value decreased by 3.56% to 2,870.72.
- Barley Index value decreased by 2.72% to 2.979,26.
- Grain Index value decreased by 4.48% to 3,009.57.
