TMEX reports the 3rd Quarter of 2024 EWR Market statistics (01.07-30.09.2024)

3rd Quarter of 2024 highlights on the agricultural commodity trades in Electronic Warehouse Receipts (EWR) Market in Turkish Mercantile Exchange (TMEX) are as follows:

  • As of the beginning of 2024, the trading value reached to TRY 52,6 billion, with a trading volume of 6 million tons and 176 thousand transactions.
  • The total number of registered investors on the trading platform has reached 238 thousand.
  • There are currently 221 actively licensed warehouses providing services in 301 branches, 48 cities, and 144 districts.
  • The licensed warehouse capacity has achieved a record of 12million tons.

In the 3rd quarter of 2024; the trading value, trading volume, and number of transactions were recorded at TRY 34,4 billion, 4 million tons and 146 thousand respectively.

In the 3rd Quarter of 2024, information regarding the leading products in terms of daily average traded volume is provided below for the main traded agricultural commodities:

  • Milling Wheat: 23.146 tons
  • Durum Wheat: 18.709 tons
  • Corn: 8.528 tons
  • Barley: 7.522 tons
  • Sunflower Seed: 880 tons
  • Chickpea: 33 tons


The seasonal trading value and volume for the traded products are provided comparatively with the same period in 2023:

  • Milling Wheat’s trading value decreased by 25% to 13,5 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 34% to 1.481.333 tons.
  • Durum Wheat’s trading value increased by 117% to 11,8 billion TRY; trading volume increased by 92% to 1.197.399 tons.
  • Corn’s trading value decreased by 43% to 4,4 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 61% to 545.786 tons.
  • Barley’s trading value decreased by 33% to 3,5 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 36% to 481.407 tons.
  • Sunflower Seed’s trading value increased by 299% to 928,8 million TRY; trading volume increased by 160% to 45.743 tons.
  • Chickpea’s trading value decreased by 34% to 44,3 million TRY; trading volume decreased by 38% to 1.466 tons.


The changes in Agricultural Commodity Indices for the 3rd Quarter of 2024, based on month-end closing values, are provided as follows:

  • Wheat Index  value increased by 19,03% to 4.933,44.
  • Milling Wheat Index  value increased by 24,40% to 5.062,23.
  • Durum Wheat Index  value increased by 14,82% to 4.854,00.
  • Corn Index  value increased by 21,57% to 5.171,52.
  • Barley Index  value increased by 13,72% to 4.259,55.
  • Grain Index  value increased by 16,81% to 4.864,27.
